Do you like to socialize and chat with friends, as well as make new friends? If so, please consider volunteering to serve on the GCN Nominating Committee. The GCN Board is looking for two active GCN members to step forward and help identify individuals interested in sharing their talents with the GCN in a new way.  

In order for the GCN to continue to be productive and prosperous, we need individuals willing to consider stepping into leadership roles, and we need a Nominating Committee to help identify our talented members. This is NOT a major time commitment, can be done on your own schedule, and is also a great way to get to know members of the GCN you may not yet be acquainted with!  

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee shall be composed of two active GNC Members who are not on the Executive Board and are elected by a majority of Members present and voting. 

The Nominating Committee needs:

• An understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the positions to be filled in order to have meaningful discussions with potential candidates about what their expectations will be if they’re offered a position and choose to accept it.
• To be knowledgeable about and adhere to the vision, mission, and basic policies of the GNC. 
• To exhibit enthusiasm for the GCN 
• To focus on identifying potential board members who:

• Have knowledge of the GCN and its operations
• Prioritize ethics and integrity
• Bring different skill sets to the table

The Nominating Committee Members shall nominate one candidate for each elected office after having ascertained that each nominee is qualified and willing to serve if elected. 

Nominating committee members should be on the lookout for qualified board members for current or upcoming vacancies and to work diligently toward identifying candidates for board positions either now or in the foreseeable future.

The Nominating Committee shall then present the slate of officers for vote in May during an in-person meeting of members, by electronic device, or postal mail. A majority vote shall constitute an election. 

Current Board Members will be available for consultation and guidance throughout the process.

Timeline:  

Oct. 11, 2023:  GCN membership elects two active GNC Members who are not on the Executive Board to serve on the Nominating Committee.

Nov. 2023 – April 2024:  Nominating Committee engages with members to identify interested/qualified candidates for open Board positions for the 2024-25 year.May 1, 2024:  Nominating Committee presents a slate of officers for vote.
