Celebration of Gardens: Town Hill Tour

There are several important goals for the event: to showcase the amazing gardens on Town Hill, educate GCN members and the public about the history of the gardens, highlight interesting plants in the gardens, share the vision for the future, and, most importantly, install the Mary’s Rose Garden sign in the Rose Garden.

Make Holiday Baskets for the Norfolk Food Pantry

Emmanuel Baptist Church, 63 Rockwood Rd, Norfolk
Each year, club members come together to share the joy of giving during the holidays by creating holiday green baskets. These beautiful arrangements are lovingly crafted and distributed to families served by the Norfolk Food Pantry, spreading cheer throughout the community. To prepare for this meaningful tradition, members are encouraged to start collecting cones, pods, twigs, and grasses from their gardens. These natural materials will be combined with greens gathered from the area to create the baskets. Pods and twigs can also be sprayed with gold to add a festive touch. Please bring all collected items directly to the workshop, where they will be used in the basket-making process.

Arnold Arboretum Walking Tour

Arnold Arboretum, 125 Arborway, Boston
(Carpooling will be available)
Norfolk resident, longtime Arboretum tour guide, and retired high school plant science instructor, Brad McGrath, will lead a 90-minute walking tour of the Arnold Arboretum. The tour will include a history of the Arboretum, an explanation of how the plants are arranged, and anecdotal information on a variety of both native and non-native shrubs and trees. The tour is designed to be interactive…questions are welcome. This is a tour of a living museum.

Club Working Meeting in preparation for the Annual Plant, Bake & Garden Treasures Sale
Stephanie Hamel’s home, 8 Lee Ann Drive, Norfolk (the last house on the right…the house with hundreds of plants in the side yard!) Park in the driveway or the cul-de-sac.
All plants will be trimmed, soil added as needed, and pots will be cleaned, labeled, and made ready for sale.
Members should bring:
● Garden gloves (if desired)
● Clippers for trimming plants
● Green thumbs and excitement to make all plants “sale-worthy.”
