Each year club members make baskets of greens decorated with festive bows, pods, gingerbread men, candy canes and seasonal ornaments for the families served by the Norfolk Food Pantry. The food pantry is located behind the office building of Emmanuel Baptist Church, 63 Rockwood Road in Norfolk. The food pantry distributes a variety of nonperishable foods as well as eggs, juice, mild and other necessities. Items are distributed to families according to need and size.

Holiday Basket Workshop 2019
Our theme this year is “Go Native Plants”
Making penguins and owls out of pinecones for our baskets
On a cold day we cut greens for our baskets
We had a great time making up the baskets from all of the native greenery and dried plants we collected.
Holiday Basket Workshops 2018
Even though it was the hottest day of the summer on August 29, we got a head start on the Holiday Baskets for the Norfolk Food Pantry by making some wine cork lighthouses. This year the baskets will follow a “Holidays by the Sea” theme. Be sure to help out by collecting any interesting dried foliage (ex. grasses, hydrangeas) that we can add to the greens along with our decorations to interpret the theme.

Thank you to all members who supported this event. It worked out very well and we will again have some joyful people at Christmas that will choose a gasket for their table. All the natural pods sprayed gold were a great addition and the gingerbread and cork angels as well! It really worked up quickly, thanks to everyone! submitted by Helena Drolette
Twenty-five holiday baskets were delivered to the Norfolk Food Pantry. Three others went to the Senior Center, Town Hall and the Norfolk DPW.
In August a group of members met to make wine cork angels to be used to decorate the Holiday Greens Baskets.
